The Writer, Mr. Chakri Anis Fakhouri. Speech

Your Excellencies, all of you are esteemed in the realm of culture.

My words are from the heart to the heart.

I hurried here when I learned that the theme of this conference is 'Poetry', the first celebration of poetry, which linguistically implies that there will be a second, third, and fourth celebration, and poetry will not stop until genuine emotions return to the people of my country.

Did I once ask poetry about its prince?

The rhymes answered me, 'Who cares? Every poem that represents sincerity is crowned atop the heights of eminence.

Oh, poets, do not ask the princes of poetry. Only ask about your own poetry, which is a prince in its own right. Be influenced by others, but do not imitate them, for imitation harms more than it benefits. No matter how much you try to master your imitation, the original owner will always be more deserving.

I thought of the word 'poetry' and found it to be a trilateral word. May God have mercy on Sheikh Subhi Al-Saleh, who taught us the jurisprudence of language. From poetry, we extract the beautiful words 'throne', 'tremble', and 'legislation'.

Poetry is the legislation of the imaginers, the throne of the enamored, and the tremble of warm hearts yearning for true love.

Glory be to God, the jurisprudence of our language is heavenly. This is perhaps why the Arabic language has been called the language of heaven, that is, the language of God. The Quran was revealed in it and it was a miracle. For these reasons, hold on to our language...your language. Educate yourselves in foreign languages and many civilizations, but do not forget the 6000 years that we have.

What if it was said that every year a poem was written? We would now have 6000 poems, 6000 thrones, and 6000 quivers of emotion.

I am very happy about this activity organized by The Higher Metn Artisan Foundation, and even happier about the sponsorship of a minister whom I know closely as a giant of culture. The testimony is wounded.

I won't prolong my words. Congratulations on your poetry. Hold onto it and set off into the horizons of life.

Thank you.
