The Classic Theatre Competition is a literary and theatrical activity aimed at both public and private high schools within The Higher Metn region. The target age group for participation is students in the tenth and eleventh grades, ranging from 14 to 18 years old.
Two scenes from the world-renowned playwright William Shakespeare were selected for the Classic Theatre Competition: "Hamlet" and "King Lear". The scenes were performed on the stage of Mar Youssef de Lyon School - Deir El Harf, a school for nuns.
The competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and was attended by the advisor of the Minister of Education, Dr. Nader Hadifa, who gave a speech after the competition. The event was also attended by the representative of the President of the Union of Municipalities of Higher Metn, Mr. Raja Abu Raslan, and official representatives from the region. The competition was judged by a panel of experts in the field, including prominent figures in art and language in Lebanon:
The Higher Metn Artisan honored the guests and the members of the judging committee by presenting them with shields of thanks and appreciation for their efforts and encouragement of this activity. The president of the judging committee, George Chahine Shalhoub, announced the results of the competition, in which the official Qarnayel High School won first place.
