Request to participate in the theater competition between secondary schools (tenth and eleventh grades) for the academic year 2023-2024

At the initiative of the Higher Metn Artisan Foundation, and in an effort to encourage reading, and with the aim of spreading scientific and literary culture, the idea of holding a cultural, literary and theatrical competition emerged. Among secondary school students (tenth and eleventh grades).

Out of interest in the cultural talents and hobbies of the emerging generation, we created an opportunity to participate in this expressive literary and theatrical competition.

The Classical Theater Competition among the Upper Matn High Schools is organized by the Higher Metn Artisan Foundation, in cooperation with the Syndicate of Professional Artists in Lebanon and the Syndicate of Theater, Cinema, Radio, and Television Actors in Lebanon, and sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

First: Explaining the competition and the mechanism for high school students to participate in it.

– It is an Arabized text from world literature that encourages reading full texts and similar ones and includes lessons and principles, if the student has literary inclinations to read and encourage them.

– The text that is the subject of the competition was chosen from one of the translated novels by the Russian writer Maxim Gorky, who was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize.

–  Participation means performing the text on stage.

– The time period specified for each participating high school is twelve minutes (12 minutes), which includes the high school’s speech and the performance of its representative team.

– The number of members of the theatrical team does not exceed two (2 participants).

–  The competition is subject to a jury specialized in language, acting performance and theatrical directing.

– The organizing party contributes to providing the general background view of the scene and decoration.

–  Qualifications at one of the theaters (to be announced in due course).

–  The winners of the three ranks: The high school administration and the acting team of high school students each receive an incentive prize, a certificate of participation in their name, and a participation shield in the name of the high school, which is presented to the three winners at the next ceremony. As for the rest of the participating secondary schools, each member of the team holds a certificate of participation in his name (the students and the school administration).

–  The competition is an initiative of the Higher Metn Artisan Foundation (idea and financing), sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with the Syndicate of Professional Artists in Lebanon and the Syndicate of Theater, Cinema, Radio and Television Actors in Lebanon.
